***** AURIGA PRESS RELEASE ***** AURIGA INTRODUCES NEW OM3 & ARMOURED FIBRE OPTIC CABLES TO OPTRONICS RANGE MILTON KEYNES, UK – 8 June 2004 - Auriga Europe Plc, the Milton Keynes-based distributor of structured cabling, networking systems and accessories has added new OM3 and armoured cables to its own OPTRONICS range of fibre optic cables. The new Optronics OM3 50/125µm cable range answers the growing demand for 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications, providing users with a more cost-effective upgrade path as compared to a full singlemode solution. The pinnacle of multimode fibre optic design, Optronics OM3 cables are available in single loose tube, tight buffered and corrugated steel tape armoured versions. Each features colour-coded coated core fibres and black low smoke zero halogen protective jacket with ripcord. The single loose tube version incorporates an ‘E-glass’ yarn which protects against moisture and rodent attack. The new Optronics corrugated steel tape armoured fibre optic cable is ideal for applications where a fibre optic cable needs to be buried or protected from mechanical shock, water ingress or rodent attack. Available in OM1, OM2, OM3 and OS1 specifications, each single loose tube cable is constructed of between 4 and 24 colour-coded coated 250µm optical fibres contained within a central gel filled tube. Water-blocking tape covers the tube and is overlaid by corrugated steel tape armour to provide mechanical protection. An outer low smoke zero halogen jacket (to IEC60332-1) means the cable can be used for both internal and external applications. Twin steel strength members within the jacket allow the cable to withstand 1800N pulling strength.
