The System is the Solution
A structured cabling system is just that: a system. While it is important to consider the specifications for individual components, the real key is the system.
An enhanced-performance cabling system means a more robust system for today's applications and increased capabilities to support the applications of tomorrow. Some manufacturers imply that these enhanced-performance systems allow applications at frequencies greater than 100 MHz and for distances exceeding 100 meters. The prudent network designer needs a standards-based system both in the cabling infrastructure and in the LAN electronics. The cabling standards, as implemented in accordance with the AMP NETCONNECT cabling system design guidelines, offer the best solution: a performance standard for specifying a network infrastructure, a benchmark for creators of new technologies and a performance measure for designers, manufacturers and specifiers of cabling systems.
The generous margins provided by the NETCONNECT Enhanced Category 5 system results in increased network reliability and lower operating costs.
AMP has designed, tested and characterized all components of the enhanced system - including 110Connect hardware and Enhanced Category 5e cable - beyond TIA/EIA-568-B Category 5e specifications. The components individually offer impressive performance specifications: together they offer enhanced Category 5 performance. In a cabling system, a single weak component - one not designed to operate within the system - can cause the entire link to fail to meet performance levels.
As the world's leading manufacturer of interconnection systems, AMP recognizes that cables and connectors must work together in a high-performance cabling system. That's why we have engineered all the parts of the AMP NETCONNECT Enhanced Category 5 system from a true systems viewpoint. We've designed the cable, connecting hardware (jacks, patch panels and cross connects), and equipment cords to work as a single system offering enhanced performance. |
