iTRACS Software Overview

iTRACS Software Overview

The iTRACS (www.itracs.com) software is a Windows based application that allows viewing and managing the network visually in real-time.

When iTRACS software receives data from the Analyzer, it immediately updates the database. A number of predefined and customizable events can be configured to respond to an iTRACS event. The software can be customized to snap a photo of the individual making the change, attach a description of the work performed and initiate e-mail, or page the information to the network administrator. Any of these events can be customized using popular programming languages, such as Visual Basic Script.

iTRACS software also records any change in connectivity in an HTML audit/log file. A relational database stores static network details and incorporates those details into real time network intelligence reports using an extensive library of Wizards. You can generate reports, and work orders, import graphics, or implement error and security controls over the Web via IIS from any location.

The software provides real time access to the Analyzer over both the LAN, WAN, Internet, or any TCP/IP network allowing remote troubleshooting and administration. The iTRACS database can be further developed to include all of the data a network administrator needs to document and manage an organization's entire network. iTRACS can document and manage voice systems, LANs, WANs, structured cabling, faceplates, workstations, printers, servers, etc.

When a port changes in connectivity, AMPTRAC sensory circuit notifies the software to update the documentation. The Schematic and Visual Views are two ways to view the managed cable drop in real-time.

Schematic View

Displays the cable drop information from top to bottom.

Visual View

Displays all ascendant items of each item displayed in the trace as well as the same connectivity information as the schematic view.

features and Advantages of Real-time Cable Management

  • Access to real-time information that can isolate the source of the problem, identify the location, and initiate a solution.

  • Initiate a work order for moves, adds, and changes and automatically be notified when the work is completed.

  • Differentiates between authorized and unauthorized changes.

  • An email, alarm, or photo can be initiated when patch cord changes occur.

  • Network is monitored 24/7, providing an increase in security and deterrence of unauthorized changes.

  • Cost savings by: reducing network downtime, reducing response time for troubleshooting and MAC's, reduces cabling mistakes, identifies used and spare port capacity.

  • Provides a documented cabling infrastructure for disaster recovery.

  • Software can be managed via the Internet or direct dial access.

  • Software can integrate with third-party logical layer applications such as HP OpenView and other cable management software
