AMPTRAC Analyzers
The Analyzer discovers the connect/disconnect and communicates the port ID's information immediately to the database software over a TCP/IP connection. When a patch cord is inserted or removed from a port, the AMPTRAC sensory circuit immediately notifies the database software to update and document the change in connectivity. This provides network administrators, responsible for small to enterprise wide multi-site networks, with vital time saving up-to-the minute information about the status of their network from the hardware layer up. Any change in connectivity can be checked and authorization verified, and if appropriate, action taken if the ID is unauthorized.
The AMPTRAC Analyzers are manufactured in two rack sizes: 1U and 6U. The sizes of the 1U and 6U analyzers are provided in the table below. The 1U Analyzer is designed to sit on a table (desktop) or mount in a 19" rack. A single 1U can monitor as many as 240 ports. The 6U Analyzer is designed to be mounted on a 19" rack only and accommodates up to eight (8) 240-port cards. A single 6U Analyzer can monitor as many as 1,920 ports. The 6U Analyzer comes equipped with two (2) 240-port cards already installed. Additional cards are sold separately.

The 1U and 6U Analyzers come in three (3) different configurations: Master, Link and Stand-Alone.
Master
A Master Analyzer communicates with up to nine (9) other Link Analyzers (Either 1U, 6U or a combination of both), effectively expanding the Master Analyzer's capacity. The master connects to the software via the 10 Base T LAN port over TCP/IP. The master does not connect directly with other master or stand-alone analyzers.
Link
A Link Analyzer has a single link connection that connects and communicates with a Master Analyzer only (either 1U or 6U). The Link analyzer effectively expands the Master Analyzer's port capacity. Since the Link Analyzer does not have a LAN connection, it does not communicate directly with the database software. It must always work as a slave to either the 1U or 6U Master Analyzer. The Link analyzer does not connect to a stand-alone analyzer.
Stand-Alone
A Stand-Alone Analyzer does not connect or communicate with any other Analyzer. The Stand-alone connects to the database software via the 10 Base T LAN port over TCP/IP. |
