The OPM 5 offers more features than any
comparably priced optical power meter available today. By bringing all the
features of expensive laboratory meters into a rugged, hand held package,
the OPM 5 raises field testing to a new standard.
The OPM 5 performs diagnostic and evaluation measurements associated with
fibre optic transmission systems and cable plant in dB, dBm, and
micro-watts. The non-volatile memory of the OPM 5 stores 250 loss readings
per wavelength for future downloading to a printer or computer. The OPM 5
offers the ability to re-measure any specific memory location without
erasing or modifying loss readings already in memory.
The supplied test software provides a new level of optical power meter
testing. The software can be used to retrieve the stored data from the
memory of the OPM 5 and then print reports for full fibre documentation. The
software also allows the OPM 5 to be connected to the PC for real time
measurements and long term stability tests, transforming the OPM 5 into the
equivalent of a powerful laboratory bench model.
The OPM 5 will operate from 9 volt alkaline batteries or an AC power
adapter. If extended battery life is a concern, then the automatic shut down
feature can be activated and will occur if no keys are pressed within a five
minute period.
The OPM 5 is delivered complete with PC test software, serial transfer
cable, manual, hard carrying case, 9 volt battery, 2 recording pads, and
protective rubber boot. Optical light sources and optical power meters from
Noyes Fibre Systems can be packaged together as a kit.
