Many metal exterior cabinets can experience problems due to environmental changes in temperature and humidity, forming terminal destroying condensation inside.
This effect is often countered by deploying heaters, chillers and/or forced ventilation. Whilst this is sometimes cost effective on major distribution cabinets, it is not the case on smaller units.
The Austin Taylor Lineside Box is a compact enclosure designed to minimise the harmful effects of condensation and heat without the additional cost of providing such ‘Controlled Atmosphere’ environments. This is achieved by providing a weather sealed enclosure inside a strong well ventilated external enclosure. Achieving an IP rating of IP56 overall. Making it particularly suitable for exposed locations e.g. lineside distribution. The cabinet is available in two convenient sizes: 100 and 200 pair.
The main lift-off cover is secured by means of a slam-latched bolt and optional padlock, yet is easily removed to give excellent 180 degree access to the interior cabinet. Facilities are provided in this section for earthing and cable strain relief.
The interior cabinet is equipped with weather seals and in its turn secured using a simple coin operated quarter turn latch. Cable access is provided by means of three removable rubber cable entries that will accommodate cables up to 22mm diameter. The mounting frame supplied supports up to 23 strips terminating 237A or equivalent and is pre-fitted with five strips.
