The ISU combines the functions of a network termination unit (such as the NTE5A) and the Splitter Service Outlet SSO. It is fitted inside customer premises and provides a demarcation point between network and consumer wiring.
Removing the lower faceplate allows a TV/FM splitter/isolator to be easily located in the backbox. It is held securely when the cover is replaced. There are holes in the lower part of the backbox for the splitter outputs and separate knockouts for cable entry.
Consumer telephone extension wiring is connected to IDC contacts in the upper consumer access cover and is isolated from the network when the top cover is removed. When the cover is replaced, gold plated contact springs connect the customer extension wiring to the network.
The TV/FM splitter/isolator as well as the telephone network connections, mastering & protection components remain secure beneath the main cover.
The removable upper cover allows consumer extension wiring to be easily isolated from the telephone network facilitating easy fault location.
The ISU is supplied fully mastered i.e. full PSTN master.
