Category 6 Cabling System for High-End Applications

With its Volition™ RJ45 K6 copper jack, 3M Telecommunications introduces a completely new RJ45 jack for use in ISO/IEC 11801, EN 50173-1, and TIA/EIA 568B-2-1 structured building wiring. The innovative design of the Volition™ RJ45 K6 copper jack combines Category 6 hardware performance with simple installation procedures.

The outstanding performance of the K6 jack enables a Category 6/Class E link to be established on all pairs. This performance has been tested and certified by DELTA, an independent testing agency. All European EMC standards have, of course, been observed.

In addition to the jack, a comprehensive package including cable, patch panels, patch cord and outlets is available for a complete cabling system. An optional 20-year extended guarantee is also available.

The Volition™ RJ45 K6 copper jack not only represents the future for fast data transmission - it is also easy to install. The jack can be terminated in a very short time without using tools, thanks to its patented one-click tool-less design. Integral colour coding makes a crucial contribution to simple installation. The state-of-the-art design guarantees perfect contact. The Volition™ RJ45 jack dispenses with a high number of discrete components as is typical with other modular systems.

3M™ Volition™ RJ45 Modules

The tool-free Volition™ RJ45 copper modules are available in UTP, FTP, and STP format. All modules are fitted with built-in dust shutter. Outlets can be mechanically and visually coded by means of coloured bezels.

On the screened (FTP) module, the 9th connectivity point (drain wire) on the jack ensures the continuity of the screening, observing all European EMC standards.

The shielded (STP) module is available with full and single shielding. In the fully shielded version, closing the cover of the casing supports the braid and cable. Supplementary cable support by cable ties is possible. In the single-screened version, a braid shroud supports the cable braid with strain relief by an additional cable support.

Keyed and Colour-Coded Identification Sets for 3M™ Volition™ Outlets

Keyed and colour-coded identification sets for outlets prevent inadvertent connection to unauthorised network ports. Mechanical keying and colour coding provide controlled access of networks by using a keyed and colour-coded plug that mates to a matched keyed socket and colour-coded bezel. These sets are available in four different colours with four distinct key positions.

Modular 3M™ Volition™ Patch Panels

Volition™ patch panels provide 16 or 24 ports on one vertical module of rack space (1U) and 32 or 48 ports in two vertical modules (2U). The tool-free 3M™ Volition™ RJ45 copper jack is simply snapped into the aperture on the patch panel.

Colour-coded Bezels for 3M™ Volition™ Patch Panels

Colour-coded identification bezels permit colour coding of the individual ports at the Volition™ patch panel. The bezel is simply snapped onto the Volition™ RJ45 copper jack.

3M™ Volition™ Horizontal Copper Cables

The 3M Volition Category 6 horizontal copper cables are compliant with TIA/EIA 568B2-1, ISO/IEC 11801 and EN 50173-1 and are suitable for transmission speeds of up to 250 MHz (Class E) on all pairs, in conjunction with the cabling system components. They are available unshielded (UTP) or shielded (FFTP or FTP) in 4-pair or 2x4-pair format.

Different colour patch cords are available for visual coding.
