Category 5e Cabling System for Standard Applications

With its Volition™ RJ45 K5e and Giga copper jacks, 3M Telecommunications is able to offer two approaches for use in ISO/IEC 11801, EN 50173-1, and TIA/EIA 568-B2 structured building wiring. This innovative concept combines optimum transmission properties with simple installation. The outstanding performance of the Volition™ RJ45 Giga jack allows 250 MHz Class E links to be established on all pairs when installed on the appropriate cable. This performance has been tested and certified by Delta and GHMT, an independent testing agency, observing ISO/IEC, EN, and TIA/EIA standards. Alternatively, in accordance with the same standards, the RJ45 K5e jack delivers true Class D link performance.

Apart from jacks, a comprehensive package including cable, patch panels, patch cords, and outlets is available for a complete cabling system. An optional 20-year extended guarantee is also available.

Both Volition™ RJ45 copper jacks not only provide connectivity for fast data transmission - they are also easy to install. The jacks can be terminated in a very short time without using tools, thanks to their patented one-click tool-less design. Integral colour coding makes a crucial contribution to simple installation. The state-of-the-art design guarantees perfect contact. The Volition™ RJ45 jack dispenses with a high number of discrete components as is typical with other modular systems.

3M™ Volition™ RJ45 Modules

The tool-free Volition™ RJ45 copper modules are available in unshielded and shielded versions. All modules are fitted with dust shutter(s) and can be mechanically and visually coded by means of coloured bezels.

On the screened modules, connectivity points are available to ensure the continuity of the screening, observing all European EMC standards. Supplementary cable support by cable ties is possible.

Keyed and Colour-Coded Identification Sets for 3M™ Volition™ Giga Jacks

Keyed and colour-coded identification sets are available for Giga jacks to prevent inadvertent connection to unauthorised network ports. Mechanical keying and colour coding provide controlled access to networks by using a keyed and colour-coded plug, that mates to a matched keyed jack and colour-coded bezel. These sets are available in four different colours with four distinct key positions.

Modular 3M™ Volition™ Patch Panels

Volition™ patch panels provide 16 or 24 ports on 1U of rack space and 32 or 48 ports on 2U. Volition™ patch panels are available with keystone or Giga mounting interfaces, the tool-free 3M™ Volition™ RJ45 copper jack is simply snapped into the aperture on the patch panel.

Colour-Coded Identification Bezels for 3M™ Volition™ Patch Panels

Colour-coded identification bezels permit colour coding of the individual ports on the Volition™ patch panel. The bezel is simply snapped onto the Volition™ RJ45 copper jack.

3M™ Volition™ Horizontal Copper Cables

3M Volition Category 5e horizontal copper cables are compliant with TIA/EIA 568B, ISO/IEC 11801, and EN 50173 and are suitable for transmission speeds of up to 250MHz (Class E) on all pairs, in conjunction with the cabling system components. They are available unshielded (UTP) or shielded (FTP) in 4-pair or 2x4-pair format.

3M™ Volition™ Patch Cords

Stranded flexible cords are used as patch cords and work area cords in the cabling system. The high-quality Volition™ RJ45 cords have been specifically matched to the requirements of our Volition™ RJ45 copper jacks in order to optimise the performance of our copper cabling systems. Different colour patch cords are available for visual coding. Mechanical keying and colour coding, where available, effectively prevent inadvertent connection to unauthorised network ports.
